Morphe Vegan Brush Set of 18 Review: Ingredients, Before & After

Creating a desirable makeup look without a high-quality set of brushes is quite a task. While brushes aren’t mandatory, they certainly make things easier and more straightforward. Morphe is a brand that became reputable for its brushes, and I have decided to test its vegan brush collection.

What Does It Offer?

Morphe Vegan Brush Set consists of 18 brushes. It includes a lip brush, pointed liner brush, flat liner brush, powder brush, and any other brush you can ever need. They are high-quality brushes that can be used in creating any kind of makeup look and are suitable for all makeup and fashion lovers.

The brush set is luxurious looking, and it comes at a very affordable price so that anyone can enjoy it. Unlike previous Morphe brushes, this set uses synthetic hairs, so it is great for all animal lovers out there.

What Is the Product Like?

The set comes in a gorgeous patent leather case that closes by snapping it. On top of the packaging is a flap that covers the brushes, keeping them safe when the set is closed. Also, all brushes have a protective cover, so they will stay in shape no matter where you keep them.

The brushes themselves are quite pretty looking, even though their design is kept very simple. They have a black handle with a metal part on the top, and brush hairs are black to dark brown with white tips. They remind me a bit of painting brushes, in fact. Some might find this design outdated, but as a painter myself, I find them quite sentimental.

At first glance, it seems like Morphe has indeed included all the brushes I might ever need, excluding the beauty blender, which, technically, isn’t even a brush. It contains eight face brushes and ten brushes that can be used for eyes or lips – or anything that you like, in fact. This is pretty good for a $49 set, as some brands will charge you that amount of money for five brushes or less. As Morphe is The Brand when it comes to brushes, I was expecting a higher price.

Despite being synthetic brushes, they are very soft to the touch. To be honest, I actually prefer synthetic brushes over real hair ones for more than one reason. Not only that they are more humane, but I find them to do a better job with most products.

And if you’re wondering, does this set work well – it indeed does. They do a great job blending, and many brushes can be used for various different purposes. For example, the lip brush can be used as a thin eyeshadow brush if you need a precise application, and I tend to prefer drawing my eyebrows using the angle liner brush. The eye brushes have a great application and minimize fallouts as much as possible. Blending brushes also do a great job, and they remove the harsh lines even with the more persistent eyeshadows. I use the pointed foundation brush for my blush, as I like to be precise with it. I would prefer the bronzer blush to be a bit smaller, but overall, it does a great job if used with correct products. The powder brush is fantastic and it doesn’t leave any texture on the skin, and while the fan brush is intended for highlighting, I’ll probably use one of the blending brushes for it. The only product that I don’t see myself using with these brushes is my foundation, as I prefer using a beauty blender. I think brushes combined with a foundation overall give my face a cakey look, and I am not up for that.

The brushes themselves seem well-crafted, and I didn’t notice a single hair falling off about a week of using them every day. They seem sturdy and like they’ll last for a very long time, which is more than I expected for the price.

Ingredients

This brush set contains synthetic bristles and has wooden handles with metal connections. This makes them as environmentally-friendly as possible. I couldn’t find exact information on what are they made from, but at first glance, it doesn’t seem like there could be anything harmful in them.

Is It Vegan And Cruelty-Free?

Morphe is a cruelty-free brand, which means none of its products or ingredients are tested on animals or sold in countries where animal testing is mandatory by law. While Morphe did have some bad reviews about using real hair for their brushes, this set is 100% vegan and doesn’t contain any animal-derived ingredients or animal by-products such as hair.

Conclusion

Overall, this is probably the best completed brush set you can find for this price range. Suppose the entire set seems like too much for you. In that case, Morphe does have smaller brush sets, usually including brushes of a similar purpose or style, such as angled brushes, foundation brushes, and similar. All of these sets can be found for a much smaller price than if you were to buy brushes independently, which I appreciate.

Although I don’t see myself reaching for every single brush as often, I still consider this to be one of the best investments when it comes to makeup tools I could’ve ever made. They blend everything perfectly without leaving a texture, and the craftsmanship seems to be of high-quality. In short, I am very pleased with the purchase.
