What Does It Offer?

The Chocolate Bar palette is said to be one of the best neutral-themed palettes out there. What makes it stand out is the cocoa powder that helps the pigmentation. The entire collection comes with a few bronzers, but you can purchase the palette independently.

This product is said to smell like chocolate, and it’s said to give excellent pay-off. Colors are long-lasting, and each of 16 shades is inspired by chocolate and chocolate sweets. It’s supposed to be a perfect choice for anyone loving neutral palettes.

What Is the Product Like?

The first thing everyone notices is the packaging. On the other hand, this shouldn’t surprise me anymore, as Too Faced always manages to awe us with their fantastic designs. The palette is packed in a gorgeous pink and gold box, which is really hard to throw away. The product itself is shaped like a chocolate bar. Once opened, the palette indeed smells just like chocolate. The smell is so realistic – yet not overwhelming – that I’m tempted to take a bite.

What annoyed me a bit is how the two lightest shades are in more giant pans than the others. This is logical, as I’ll probably use them during every makeup look. However, for some reason, I am thrown off if the pans are of different sizes. In my opinion, it would be much better if they made it with 18 shades instead of 16.

When it comes to colors, all look very pretty, and I think the shades are well picked. All of them are wearable, even for someone who loves only the more neutral looks. There are more shimmer shades than mattes, but nothing is so extravagant that it stands out. The blue hue is great for those who love to add a bit of color, so this palette would probably be great for travels. In one packaging, you have everything you need on an everyday basis.

The formulation is good, and there are no huge issues with any of the colors, but I do have a few complaints about the darkest of shades. Two of the darkest mattes, Triple Fudge and Cherry Cordial, aren’t as pigmented as I had expected. On the other hand, Amaretto and Haute Chocolate fade rather quickly, and they aren’t that good for blending. Gilded Ganache, on the other hand, has excellent pigmentation and shine, but it has so much fallout that it’s tough to work with. There is a lot of fallout all in all, so I would advise you to do your eye makeup before you finish the rest of your face. The mattes blend well, and there is no need to layer the shimmers – but you can do so if you want a better pay-off.

The colors go great together, and you can create many looks without ever reaching for another palette. The only color I would add is a matte black, as it’s great for creating depth, especially when mixed with these beautiful purples and browns.

After wearing it for the entire day, I can confirm that most of the colors really are long-lasting. Some last longer than the others, though, and shimmer shades are known to fade quicker compared to mattes. Still, as there are no bright colors that would look ugly when faded, this isn’t too problematic. For a neutral palette, The Chocolate Bar eye palette is more than great, both for its performance and colors.

Ingredients

The Chocolate Bar palette uses cocoa powder as a means of pigmentation. This surprised me a bit, so I turned over to Google for research. Turns out cocoa powder is an excellent antioxidant, and it is said to help your skin stay youthful. In fact, many spas are using cocoa powder as their main ingredient.

Other ingredients are pretty standard, but they do depend on the shade. This isn’t uncommon, as different colors require different components, and it is the main reason why some shades have a better performance than others.

Is It Vegan And Cruelty-Free?

Too Faced is a well-known cruelty-free brand. None of its products, ingredients, or suppliers, are tested on animals. However, The Chocolate Bar eye palette isn’t vegan, as some of its shades contain animal-derived ingredients or animal by-products.

Before And After

One of the many looks you can create with this palette. The colors go great together, and you can hardly make an ugly combination.

Another look, great for green or blue eyes. The golden shimmer really accentuates the brightness of the eyes.

This look proves that you can create a dramatic look with a neutral palette.

Conclusion

All in all, The Chocolate Bar is a pretty good neutral palette. For a price of $49, you get 16 pretty shades, all of which are wearable. It’s a great travel palette, as you can just put it in your bag and go around with your day. You can find almost any shade that you need for your everyday makeup in it.

The biggest issue I have quality-wise is the massive amount of fallout, especially on shimmery shades. I would advise you to do your eye makeup before applying foundation unless you want to look like you’ve given yourself a black eye. Also, shimmers work the best if you’ve applied an eyeshadow primer.

The chocolate smell is cute but not over the top. It smells like real chocolate, and it doesn’t have an artificial feel to it. However, if you’re someone who dislikes scented makeup, you might have a problem with it. Still, who could dislike the smell of chocolate?!

The bottom line, for its price, this is one of the better neutral palettes out there.
